I worked with J. Walter Thompson in the early 2000s to create a new website for the United State Marine Corps. In order to better reach their target demographic, we combined the Marine’s aspirational brand message with an interface that borrowed aspects from video games of the time. The result was a complex, multi-layered site that won a One Show Pencil, Site of the Year honors from the Favorite Website Awards, and inclusion in the Communication Arts Interactive Annual, among other honors. Although the site has long been redesigned, the video below gives a good indication of the design and interaction contained in the experience.
